GOBHI Providers Behavioral Health Newsletter July 2024

Update From the GOBHI Leadership

Hello all,

Behavioral Health Careers Website 2.0

In 2023,  GOBHI created a behavioral health careers website www.bhcareers.org for CMHPs and community partners to post behavioral health jobs in Eastern Oregon. This project was a huge success supported by many GOBHI staff with the help of our friends at Birdie Media. In addition to job postings, the site contains impactful videos and testimonials about what it is like to live and work in the rural and frontier areas of Eastern Oregon.

This year, we embarked on more enhancements to the site. Based on community partner feedback, we rebranded The GOBHI Network to Eastern Oregon Behavioral Health Careers. We started video production last week. Members of our marketing staff will visit the participating partners to film footage and interview employees to help market their agencies on the website and on their own social media platforms. We plan to make one trip a month and we are offering this service to our partners, free of charge to them to help get the word out about the wonderful career opportunities we have in the behavioral health field in Eastern Oregon. If you haven’t done so, please visit the site and share on your social media platforms. If you are interested in posting jobs or finding more about the project please contact GOBHI’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Julie Leutschaft at jleutschaft@gobhi.org

Peer Workforce Conference

The 2024 Eastern Oregon Peer Workforce Conference is less than 3 weeks away! It will be held at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, on August 22 - 23, 2024, and the theme is Holistic Wellness & Self-Care. Throughout the two days, there will be 16 workshops available, all tailored to peer support, as well as keynote speakers and an Eastern Oregon Peer Panel. This conference will focus on the unique needs of peer support specialists who work and reside in Eastern Oregon.

Currently, there are 140 employed peer workers of all specialty types throughout EOCCO’s 12-county region, and the Peer Conference is an opportunity for all peers to come together in one location for networking opportunities, social connection between like minded individuals, professional development of skills specific to peer support, and develop/increase leadership skills. Being able to collaborate with the various experiences will expose peers to different perspectives, which is key to supporting diversity across Eastern Oregon in various organizations that employ peer workers.

The overarching goal of this conference is to help grow the peer support profession and promote the inclusion of peer support specialists throughout healthcare and other community systems across Eastern Oregon.
